Hazardous conditions due to reconstruction underway. Construction equipment, debris, wires and unsafe stairwells had to be navigated. Room was not very clean and was noisy besides. Telephone did not work. Towels were stained. Mattresses old and uncomfortable. Worst place we have stayed in and will not return. This place should be shut down until renovation is completed and even then the rooms may not be improved.
They have construction on the outer structure so it was noisy when we moved in. After they quit we new we had a problem. You could hear TV’s, people in beds above you, people walking and talking in other rooms. We did not get a good night sleep.
While there are some new items in the bathroom, the bed was bad – no support – like a very cheap mattress. Overall the room was clean however there was mold on the shower tile.
The price was high, room poor and very noisy! No continental breakfast or even coffee. We were told all will be in order in a month. I dough it!
Holy cow! I'm at a loss for words! Having lived in Montpelier, I knew this place was under "renovations" so I thought maybe it was a decent place, despite all these reviews. WRONG! Where to begin? No internet access, no breakfast, no turndown service, construction debris, from a renovation that seems to be years in the making, everywhere, wires hanging from ceilings, hair on the sheets and pillows, cigarette butts on the floor outside my door, stunk like smoke(even though it's a non-smoking room), spots worn through the rug, huge dents in the door (think police battering ram), a door to the stairwell, just outside my room, that started me out of sleep every time it slammed shut, torn wall paper, etc. At one point in the middle of the night, after having been woke up by the door for the fifth or sixth time, I decide to find the source of this vicious cold breeze in the room. I find a hole in the wall, about the diameter of a half-dollar, drilled clear through to the outside! After stuffing it with Kleenex I pretty much decide that I will be cutting my stay here short. They wanted me to pay for my entire stay up front. Thankfully, after seeing how disheveled the exterior of the place was I paid for my first night up front in cash, and told them I'll pay the rest tomorrow if necessary. In the morning I inform the manager that my first night will be my last and check out, without so much as a single word of complaint. I figure, live and learn. About 45 minutes later, while having breakfast in Montpelier, I receive a phone call from the young lady who checked me in late the night before. She tells me that the manger wants me to pay more money because the rate they gave me was based on me staying for a week. She says me leaving put her job in jeopardy, and made her look bad to her manager (the guy who took my key when I checked out!). She says he wants me to coma back and pay another $50.00! I almost fell from my chair. Needless to say, I did not pay them another dime, and told her to tell her manager that he was lucky I didn't demand my money back for the worst night's sleep of my life. Not only is the place a complete dump, but the staff and management is completely unprofessional! I would have been almost as comfortable, and probably just as warm, if I had given up on the room and just went to the parking lot to sleep in my car. If this place is your last resort, then do yourself a favor and ask around about homeless shelters! The conditions will likely be cleaner and the staff will most certainly be more pleasant.
